FOURTH NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE
FLAME OF LOVE MOVEMENT IN CANADA

Novembre 13, 2005

"The Flame of Love sets the world ablaze"

The Movement of the Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary held its fourth national congress on November 13, 2005, in the hall of the Saint-Laurent church, in Montreal, with the following theme for this year: 'The Flame of Love sets the world ablaze'. The statue of Our Lady of the Flame of Love brought back from Quito ( Ecuador ) this summer, occupied the place of honor in the congress of this year. The congress started at 9h30 with the presentation of the program of the day. Then, a first Rosary was recited followed by a brief history of the Flame of Love, its messenger and on the Flame of Love Movement. The intervention of Mrs. Agathe Nebout from the Ivory Coast was well noticed when she described to the assistance how the Flame was spreading in her country. Gerard Picard, Assistant to the National Coordinator, gave a talk on his trip to Quito that took place in August of this year, to take part in the international meeting of the work of the Movement.

In the afternoon, the congress continued with a second Rosary. After this, Father Jacques Griset, C.S.C., gave a beautiful teaching on the Flame of Love based on the spiritual Diary of Elizabeth Kindelmann. The teaching of Father Jacques held the attention of the assembly in a particular way. Then, it was the turn of the National Coordinator, Marcel Dufour, to speak about the work in Canada, in particular following the rental of an operational center at the beginning of November of this year in the town of Longueuil, which will make it possible to centralize the operations of the Movement with a greater effectiveness and will make it possible for the volunteers to offer their assistance more freely. Michel Quessy, who translated the spiritual Diary of Elizabeth Kindelmann from Spanish to French, gave a small talk on the updates he made to his Internet website. The group of animation and evangelization ‘Arc-en-ciel-jeunesse’, under the direction of Sister Jacqueline Laflamme, provided the musical animation and led the assembly in the prayer thanks to their songs and their beautiful voices.

Unfortunately, our friends from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Aline and her husband Clement, could not take part in the congress, as this had been announced, because a visa of Visitors was not granted to them by the Canadian embassy in Kigali. We regret their absence, but as Aline says, 'all is grace'.

The congress ended with the celebration of the Holy Mass in the church followed by the recitation of the Rosary of the Flame of Love in the presence of the Most Blessed Sacrament exposed on the Altar.
